Tool 01 · Raid cost

Rust Raid Calculator

Pick what you want to break - walls, doors, garage doors, tool cupboard, turrets - and get the exact C4, rockets, satchels, beancans, explosive ammo or torches needed, plus the total sulfur cost.

How to use the raid cost calculator

  1. Pick targets. Tap a structure card, then set the quantity with the stepper. Mix and match: 2 sheet doors, 1 stone wall, 1 garage door, a turret…
  2. Choose the side you can hit. “Strong side” is the default and correct for most raids; switch to “weak (soft) side” if you can reach the inside face - it cuts explosive-ammo and torch counts.
  3. Read your shopping list. The table shows every explosive with units needed and its sulfur bill, plus the raid total in sulfur and sulfur nodes.
  4. Send it down the pipeline. “Find the cheapest raid” ranks your options by sulfur; “Farming time” estimates the grind at your farming rate.

Why raiders use this calculator

Real damage values

Counts are computed as ceil(target HP ÷ damage) using per-structure damage from published raid tables - not rounded community lore.

Every explosive type

C4, rockets, satchels, beancans, explosive 5.56, MLRS rockets and even torches - with sulfur cost and workbench tier for each.

Deployables included

Tool cupboards, auto turrets and SAM sites are real raid targets. Their HP and damage taken sit in the same table.

Private by design

Your base plan stays in your browser’s local storage. No account, no upload, no telemetry on your targets.

Worked examples

Same engine, same numbers - computed server-side so you can check the tool’s work.

Example raid costs computed with the same formula the tool uses
TargetHPRocketsC4SatchelsExplo ammo (strong)Cheapest sulfur
Sheet Metal Door 250 2 1 4 63 1,575 (63× Explo ammo)
Garage Door 600 3 2 9 150 3,750 (150× Explo ammo)
Stone Wall 500 4 2 10 185 4,400 (2× C4)
Armored Wall 2,000 15 8 46 799 17,600 (8× C4)
Armored Door 1,000 5 3 15 250 6,250 (250× Explo ammo)

Example: a sheet metal door takes 2 rocket(s), 63 explosive rounds or 4 satchels - 250 HP ÷ 220.375 = 1.13 → 2 rockets, rounded up.

How the raid math works

For every target and explosive, the count is ceil(target HP ÷ damage per explosive) - you always round up, because a partially damaged wall still stops you. The sulfur bill is count × sulfur per explosive, where sulfur-per-explosive comes from the crafting recipes: 1 C4 = 20 Explosives = 2,200 sulfur; 1 rocket = 1,400; 1 satchel = 480; 1 beancan = 120; 1 explosive round = 25.

Damage values and target HP come from the Rust Wiki’s destruction chart and building pages, cross-checked against the RustClash raid tables (the maintained successor of Rustlabs) on 2026-10-11. Where the two sources disagreed - beancans vs armored door, explosive ammo vs stone wall - we kept the value whose damage × count math is self-consistent, and we document the choice on the methodology page.

Limitations, stated plainly

  • Minimums assume every charge lands and detonates. Satchels can dud - carry spares.
  • Counts assume point-blank placement; splash falloff changes what actually dies in a live raid.
  • Multi-TC and rebuild costs are out of scope; this tool prices destruction, not the rebuild.
  • Game balance changes with updates. If Facepunch nerfs an explosive, the numbers change - the snapshot date tells you how fresh the data is.

Frequently asked questions

How many rockets for an armored wall?

15 rockets destroy an armored wall (2,000 HP ÷ 137.575 rocket damage, rounded up). That costs 21,000 sulfur at 1,400 sulfur per rocket.

How many C4 for a sheet metal door?

One C4 opens a sheet metal door (440 damage vs 250 HP). A garage door needs 2, an armored door needs 3 - which is why raiders save C4 for walls and use cheaper door-openers.

How much sulfur for a stone wall?

On pure sulfur the cheapest route is 2 C4 = 4,400 sulfur, but C4 needs a Tier 3 workbench. The practical alternatives: 185 explosive rounds = 4,625 sulfur (4,325 from the soft side) or 10 satchels = 4,800 sulfur. The cheapest raid solver ranks every option for your exact plan.

How much sulfur per rocket, C4, satchel and beancan?

Rocket = 1,400 sulfur · C4 = 2,200 sulfur · Satchel Charge = 480 sulfur · Beancan Grenade = 120 sulfur · Explosive 5.56 round = 25 sulfur. Every number comes straight from the crafting recipes - the reconciliation is shown on the methodology page.

Does the calculator include workbench requirements?

Yes. C4 and rockets are flagged Tier 3, satchels, beancans and explosive ammo Tier 1, torches need no bench. Counts don’t change between offline and online raids - only your risk does.

Why does the plan warn about satchel duds?

Satchel charges arm with a random fuse and have a small chance to malfunction, per the Rust Wiki. The calculator shows exact minimums; raiders commonly carry ~20% extra satchels as insurance. We keep the math at minimums and let you choose the buffer.
